Sometimes, all we need is a change of perspective. To see things in a different light, or from a different angle. Because it’s easy to get locked into our own heads, into our same ways and paths of thinking. Our brains are wired to be efficient, to use less energy, to be, in essence, a little lazy. And it’s great to be lazy! If necessity is the mother of invention, laziness is certainly the father.

But we are also so much more than that. There are an infinite number of ways to see the world. On the dark days, when you feel locked in your perspective, when the facts seem immovable, this is a reminder — sometimes all you need is to see the same things from a different angle.

That’s why I keep looking up.

The Golden Gate Bridge may be one of the most photographed places in the world. It’s certainly known as the most photographed bridge in the world. But without the bridge, while beautiful, it wouldn’t even be in the top 1000. And if the bridge wasn’t so damn beautiful, it would just be another piece of necessary but unremarkable infrastructure.

But someone (actually, a whole lot of people) decided to make it something beautiful. And even on the foggiest, darkest, coldest and windiest days, it inspires millions of people to see it, to experience it, to walk across it, and it changes them, even just a little bit.

So keep be inspired. Keep changing your perspective. Keep looking up. And remember, you can always change where your head is at. And someday, when you do, you just might see a way to change the world.

What the story of Something True and Beautiful?

We are a husband and wife team that started S.T.A.B. because we wanted to make things better. There’s lots of ways to say what you don’t like, or sharing facts that disprove your opponents’ point of view — but evidence has repeatedly shown that that doesn’t change anyone’s mind. If you really want to make things better, it’s going to be by finding and sharing values and goals that all of us can agree on, and move towards.

So we didn’t want to keep putting more energy, even negative energy, towards the things that were making us angry, sad, or depressed. Instead, we wanted to highlight the ideas, values, and thoughts that make the world worth saving.

That’s what Something True and Beautiful is about — putting positive energy towards the things we want to see more of in the world.

Do you use AI?

All artwork on our products, and all written content on this site, is created by humans, with love, in California.

However, we also recognize that AI is a tool, in some ways like any other such as a hammer or a calculator. That is, it can amplify some abilities while simultaneously dulling or diminishing others. It is also different than many other tools in terms of the breadth of its capabilities the speed at which it evolves and improves.

It is also increasingly unavoidable — for example, we are a small, 2-person operation, and one of the services we use to create our product images sometimes offers AI-generated images of people that we have used on this website, and will likely continue to in the future. While we cannot promise that all content on the site will always be 100% AI-free, we guarantee that all artwork on our products and all written content from Something True and Beautiful is 100% human-created, and always will be.

Do you make clothes for kids?

No. We believe that children should not be used as political props, and should be able to choose what messages and values the clothing that they wear says to the world without pressure or influence from their parents. However, once young adults start to have those strong opinions about what they want to see more of in the world, we encourage them to wear their values with the Something True and Beautiful products that are appropriately sized for young people over the age of 13.

How are your clothes made?

We are currently a very small operation, so we are currently using the 3rd-party print-on-demand provider Printify to print/embroider and drop-ship our products. When selecting providers, we try to select those which are made as much as possible in the USA, and which follow sustainable / environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes. With enough traction and demand, our goal is to get to a point where we can choose our own suppliers so that we can increasingly create sustainable and fair-paying jobs in the USA that follow environmentally sustainable practices.
