Why This, and Why Now
We’re not here because things are going great.
Politically, economically, socially — it feels like the world’s unraveling a little more each day. We were stuck in that feeling. Anxious. Tired. Asking ourselves: what can we do?
Then we remembered: Action absorbs anxiety.
We didn’t want to just rage-scroll or repost. There’s already plenty of noise about what’s wrong. People are very clear on what they’re against.
There was a tweet we couldn’t stop thinking about:
“Haha, what a wicked and ironic comment bro. Now try saying something true and beautiful.”
That’s the spark. That’s the challenge. And so, that’s what we’re doing.
Making action. Being human. Putting Something True and Beautiful into the world.
Join us. Let’s make better things. Let’s make things better.
Why Your Purchase Matters
When you buy Something True and Beautiful, you’re putting your values into action.
- You’re making the world a little more beautiful.
- You’re showing others you care—and giving them a reason to care too.
- You’re supporting sustainable, U.S.-based jobs with fair wages.
- And you’re giving back:
$5 from every purchase goes directly to Protect Democracy.
This isn’t just shopping. It’s choosing to act.
What Matters
We’re building a brand that stands for something:
- Sustainability — economic, social, environmental.
- Slow and Timeless > Fast Fashion — We make things to last. No trend-chasing, no landfill-bound impulse buys.
- Transparency — in how we source, make, and price.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion — not a checkbox. A foundation.
- Positivity — we focus our energy on the world we want, not just what we reject.
- Customer joy. We want you to love what you get. Period.
- No waste, no shame, 100% satisfaction. If something doesn’t work for you, don’t return it. Donate or gift it—and we’ll donate 100% of our profit from your order to Protect Democracy.
Who We Are
We are many things, all at once. Like everyone, we contain multitudes:
- We’re Jewish.
- We’re Chinese.
- We’re the descendants of Holocaust survivors, forced labor camp workers, and proud Scots.
- We’re first-generation immigrants—and fourth.
- Some of us grew up in comfort.
- Some of us grew up in chaos.
- We’ve lived in California, New York, Michigan, Maryland, Guangzhou, Paris, and the heart of Central China.
- We speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, and Spanish.
- We’ve written children’s books, led marketing campaigns, and shipped complex tech products that have touched and taught millions.
- We’re parents. And humans. And hopeful cynics.
We started this so we can look our kids in the eye and say:
We did something. We led by example. We tried to make the world better—for you, and for us, too.
