Care instructions: Before burning, always trim the wooden wick to 1/8 inch. Keep the wax pool clear. Always use a candle holder, it should be heat resistant, sturdy, and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax. Burn candles in a well-ventilated room. Never burn a candle for longer than three hours, cool for at least two hours before relighting. Never leave a candle unattended, keep it away from anything that can catch fire. Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. Don’t burn a candle all the way down. Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle, it’s the safest way to prevent wax from splattering.

What the story of Something True and Beautiful?

We are a husband and wife team that started S.T.A.B. because we wanted to make things better. There’s lots of ways to say what you don’t like, or sharing facts that disprove your opponents’ point of view — but evidence has repeatedly shown that that doesn’t change anyone’s mind. If you really want to make things better, it’s going to be by finding and sharing values and goals that all of us can agree on, and move towards.

So we didn’t want to keep putting more energy, even negative energy, towards the things that were making us angry, sad, or depressed. Instead, we wanted to highlight the ideas, values, and thoughts that make the world worth saving.

That’s what Something True and Beautiful is about — putting positive energy towards the things we want to see more of in the world.

Do you use AI?

All artwork on our products, and all written content on this site, is created by humans, with love, in California.

However, we also recognize that AI is a tool, in some ways like any other such as a hammer or a calculator. That is, it can amplify some abilities while simultaneously dulling or diminishing others. It is also different than many other tools in terms of the breadth of its capabilities the speed at which it evolves and improves.

It is also increasingly unavoidable — for example, we are a small, 2-person operation, and one of the services we use to create our product images sometimes offers AI-generated images of people that we have used on this website, and will likely continue to in the future. While we cannot promise that all content on the site will always be 100% AI-free, we guarantee that all artwork on our products and all written content from Something True and Beautiful is 100% human-created, and always will be.

Do you make clothes for kids?

No. We believe that children should not be used as political props, and should be able to choose what messages and values the clothing that they wear says to the world without pressure or influence from their parents. However, once young adults start to have those strong opinions about what they want to see more of in the world, we encourage them to wear their values with the Something True and Beautiful products that are appropriately sized for young people over the age of 13.

How are your clothes made?

We are currently a very small operation, so we are currently using the 3rd-party print-on-demand provider Printify to print/embroider and drop-ship our products. When selecting providers, we try to select those which are made as much as possible in the USA, and which follow sustainable / environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes. With enough traction and demand, our goal is to get to a point where we can choose our own suppliers so that we can increasingly create sustainable and fair-paying jobs in the USA that follow environmentally sustainable practices.
