Justice isn’t really justice if it’s only for the few. For justice to truly be ‘just’, it needs to be the same for everyone. For men and women, for the old and young, for citizens and immigrants — no matter who you are, or how you got here.
And what we mean here in the U.S. by ‘justice’ is (or some might fear, used to be) something truly special. What made America unique, powerful and yeah, great, was the idea that we weren’t ruled by the whims of kings, lived in fear of the flipping feelings of some privileged class, or would be treated differently in the eye of the system of laws that we ourselves have the power to create simply because someone considered us the ‘other.’
